Make trucking great again!

Goodmorning to you all!

So I recently read the topic where someone wanted to bring the old trucking system back.

I wouldn't suggest that, as the current system has a way better grinding mechanism, though I think there are certainly some improvements to be made.

First of all, let's discuss the flaws within the current trucking system.

As of right now, you can unlock different loads, by doing as many trucking runs as possible.
Once you unlock different loads you get better weight bonuses, making the main goal right now to get the highest weight bonus asap.
Which is a good mechanic!!!

But the way it's implemented is wrong in my opinion, previously it was most rewarding to drive long distances as they would deliver you more cash... Logical, more km's/effort made equals more cash.

But that's not the case with the current system, anyone who favors long-distance trucking like me is now simply doomed...

So what is this claim based on, well let's dig a little deeper into maximizing our profits.

So, of course, everyone who's here to make money tries to maximize their available free-time to maximize their profits.
Let's say in this case I'm a trucker spawned at LV trucking side, I spawn in my road train and drive into the marker.
I now get a multitude of choices, including long and short distance loads...
Long distance loads will give me a 4-5k delivery reward + the weight bonus which is 11k!!! highly outweighing the delivery reward.

Let's say I drive from LV to LS, which will take me approx 5-6 minutes. I would've now made 16k by doing this.
Instead, I could've also driven from LV trucking depot to creek warehousing which takes approx 1 minute where I'll make 12.5k...
Meaning I could make around 30-40k extra including stops more by doing short trips...

THIS MAKES ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE!

My suggestion:

Change the system where you get new loads based on the amount of KM you've driven.
Go to a system where a new load just changes the reward given per driven KM and get rid of the weight bonuses.
This way people are rewarded by driving longer distances, nice RP element.
Plus it motivates people to drive long distances!

And last but certainly not least, BRING BACK ILLEGAL LOADS!
the system above would also complement this, since if people would drive from LV trucking -> creek warehousing.
The chance is very low that they'll get caught by cops.
But if they would've had to drive from LV to SF the chance is way higher that they'll meet a cop :)

Let me know what you think about this implementation and if you've anything to add!

Hoping to see some changes made to the current system, if you need any more help thinking this through please shoot me a message!

Best,

Rick

We spoke yesterday about this and im glad you made a suggestion, but if we speak about max profit in shortest time, i think shorter deleveries out-do them, and shorter deleveries results in more trucking stats, so its easier to unlock military cargo.

I dont truck but RP based it dont make sense, however i think technically the system works. But you certainly have a good point :)

In real life cargo weight affects the price, so I think it makes sense.

In real life cargo type also affects the price of transport, for example, it is more expensive to transport hazardous substances than wood.
So imo if illegal transports come back, I think they should have an extra charge too. (because of wanted level you get for delivering it)

Keep the ideas coming.

There was/is something wrong with how the income is generated, it was meant to reward long runs more, etc.
Weight would have impact on the truck you are driving, so heavier loads will take longer time because they are harder to pull, it's why the weight was initially implemented.

@Mega9 is it programmatically very difficult to add extra weight to your truck?
Since it doesn't feel like your truck becomes slower now.

Nevertheless, if it were properly integrated, the unbalance of long-distance hauls would still remain.
