Should we reset everything with a major update?

  1. 1. Should we reset everything with a major update?

There was once a talk about resetting the server’s economy, and some players claimed they would leave if that happened. In the end, the reset never took place, yet those same players seem to have left regardless. As a result, SAES:RPG now feels more inactive than ever. Some might argue that MTA is outdated, that the server offers nothing new, and that repeating the same activities has grown tiresome. There is some truth to this, but each of these points can also be challenged.

To keep it brief, I believe this legendary server still has the potential to survive for many more years. Instead of becoming just a memory we look back on, it could remain an active place that people continue to visit. This is only my perspective, and others will surely have their own. Still, without significant changes, the server’s lifespan cannot realistically be extended. A temporary shutdown, a complete reset, and a major update could provide players with fresh goals, renewed motivation, and a new adventure to commit their time to.

Basically, my suggestion is:

  • Temporarily shut down the server, allowing inactive players to notice and build anticipation for its reopening.

  • Offer a major content update to generate excitement.

  • Completely reset everything, including the economy.

I don’t see much point in holding onto a few digital icons on a server that’s already practically dead. If the AFK players there are currently putting in this much effort just to keep their gang colors, it won’t last much longer anyway.

The fact that such a suggestion is coming from someone who barely plays is a joke itself

Since the reset that was discussed in the past wasn’t implemented, I’ve come to the point of quitting the game, and if a reset ever happens, I’m considering coming back and investing thousands of hours again. I don’t get what the joke is, but I doubt those who voted “no” even read and thought about the suggestion, though I honestly don’t care much anyway. If the community wants the server to stay in its grave, I have nothing to say.

Not a single thing from the list seems to be possibly happening.
There would be no server shutdown, definately no major updates cuz ain't nobody got time for that anymore. (2.0)
and sure thing no resets, cuz some part of players would ragequit, even if that "some part" is 10 - thats like a 25% population of the server right now, it's gonna bring closer to the edge only.
let it die peacefully surrounded with "family" members.

Changes/updates is what keeps the momentum going. I don't think a major reset is going to help anything, it'll just kill everything for good. The gameplay is rather repetitive, that's what needs to change so people can find the motivation to continue playing. Introducing newer things to keep players busy that they can do themselves and not have to be a server-wide activity, etc.

- Client-sided jobs for classes. (For those on the RP side)

- Automatic events such as Fallout, LMS, etc. This will invite people to be more competitive. Also gives a new experience to players. Imagine events such as cops vs robbers in races or in a closed arena fighting to death where criminals get chosen to act as temporary cops, etc.

- Player v Player concept. This is a system I had in mind quite a while back, where you can compete against another player in your own private arena, 1v1 car shooter, dog fighting, etc.

Just my opinion. GTA6 around the corner anyway. Anddddddddd, GTA:SA has been removed from Steam. You should consider that as well. People don't have a way to get the game legally unless they're downloading a cracked version. Rockstar kind of killed the mod with that shitty definitive edition.

I personally don't see the need for a full reset. I mean people invested thousands of hours into the server, been active for years and achieved their money, properties etc by hard work. If people are just jealous to others and lazy to do the same we did for years, then the solution is to nuke everyone's balance? Everyone's free to work and achieve what we did during these years, instead of continuously attempting to zero every hard working man on the server.

But speaking about reset, as mentioned above, you'd like to see everything resetted. But what do deleting Gangs, Groups and Squads have to do with server activity? There are organizations more than 10 years old, putting hard work into keeping themselves alive. Would it be fair to make g/s/c members to start from zero again? I don't think so

If we really want to "revive" the economy a little bit and give others a chance too (like they have no chance to become rich nowadays or something, but regardless..), then, in my view, we should look on the admins that are inactive for years. Their properties could be put up for event prices, or even as a bigger monthly challenge reward, with this giving a chance to everyone to win and probably raise the activity a little bit. It's just the first raw idea that came up in my head.

So, in my view, resetting would surely backfire, as it would not raise server activity but make others leave. If we are really into raising server activity, then the solution should not be found in what we must take from other active members of the community, but more like in implementing new stuff with new opportunities for everyone.

We can all agree that this is not the way to improve the experience whatsoever. Infinity summarized it best: The server needs updates. Updates that would allow people who retired to come back to take a look atleast and maybe stick around for the good of nostalgia? Updates that would allow players who login for a minute spend more time around. More single player focused classes (and maybe fulfill the current ones that still don't have a script). A tutorial for the newbies to interact with the server on their own, without watching a 48minutes tutorial or reading an essay from F1/another player to tell them what to do. But even that may not matter much as the game itself is dying, we have to face it.
