The day started like any other at Cuban Cars, me working solo, sipping on a lukewarm coffee, when the shop phone rang. A customer called in, said his black Premier wouldn’t start this morning when he was about to head to work. Didn’t have time to wait around, he had to catch the bus and left the car in his driveway at the front of the house, easy to access. He gave me the go ahead to pick it up whenever I could.
I rolled out with the tow truck and headed to the location. As promised, the Premier was parked neatly in front of the house. No cars blocking it, no drama. Hooked it up and left. Smooth pickup.
Back at the shop, I ran a quick diagnostic. The battery was completely dead, but that wasn’t the root issue. Turns out the alternator wasn’t charging properly due to a worn belt. That would've stranded him again if I had only swapped the battery. Replaced the alternator belt, charged the battery, and checked the voltage output. Everything lined up.
Ran a couple of engine tests, started up smooth and steady. No misfires, no lights on the dash. I cleaned up the tools
Later in the afternoon, the customer stopped by straight after work. Still looked a bit tired but relieved to see his car alive and well. I handed him the keys, explained what I fixed, and he thanked me for the quick turnaround before heading out.
